So after a few months of hibernation, Christmas and New Year out of the way, we can now look forward to the cricket season returning in 2017.
Club AGM 2016
The AGM was held in December with no real surprises occurring on the night. Both the Chairman and President were extremely pleased with the on-field performances with all teams enjoying success throughout the season. The Chairman was also encouraged with the clubs finances following a number of successful fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Thanks to those who have helped generate some much needed income for the club. Tom Brooke has decided to step from his role as Club Secretary and Colin Gascoyne has stepped down from his role as Head Groundsman (Tom will remain on the club committee). The club would like to thank them for all their hard work over a number of years.
Kris Moore was elected to become Club Treasurer and Fixture Coordinator and Andy Hibberd was elected to oversee the Junior Section plus Steve Bradford Invitational Trophy fixtures. Nick Goacher will continue his role as Senior Cricket Officer and Gavin Hudson and Ben Lambert will continue their roles as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively. Ben Bulmer and Darren Wilson will continue their roles overseeing the development of the Pavilion. Bryan Smith will continue to oversee the voluntary bar rota, Chris Travers corresponding with sponsors (and continuing as Club President), Colin White overseeing feature matches, Sue Shorthouse overseeing Membership and Andy Hibberd/Michael Brown producing the annual club magazine and fixture card.
The club is yet to replace the vacant positions of Club Secretary and Head Groundsman. If anyone is interested in filling these positions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Chairman or any other committee member.
Winter Practice is set to begin on Sunday 8th January 2017. This year we have changed location to the upgraded facility at Carres Grammar School. The day has also changed to a Sunday to try and avoid other sporting activities that occurred on a Saturday. Our ECB Level 2 coaches are ready to go with the U13 and U15 sessions beginning at 2pm till 4pm this coming Sunday. U17 and Seniors follow at 6pm till 8pm. A full breakdown on winter training times can be found on this link:
This year we have enabled members to pay for training fees through our website. Please click on the link to pay and get one session for free!:
We have recently gone into partnership with Serious Cricket as our main kit supplier into 2017. We now have the facility to order kit online and have it delivered to your door. Please follow the link to see what kit is on offer:
The club was extremely pleased to announce the signing of Rob Nicol as overseas professional for 2017 in November. We look forward to working with Rob come early April - He will no doubt add brilliant experience into our ranks and help develop some of the younger players. The club was also boosted by the news that former Nettleham leg-spinner Adi Sreedharan has agreed to join following a good first year in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier league.
The club is always on the look out for new players. If anyone is interested, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
There will be plenty of activity around the club now the new year is in full swing. Keep on eye on the website and twitter for updates and events as we approach the season.
